Overview

The Workday home page is designed to make navigation easier and help you organize and complete your tasks. Key features of the current home page interface and search functionalities include:

  • Apps, formerly known as worklets, are minimized under "View All Apps" and can be accessed from anywhere within Workday via the Global Navigation Menu.
  • Quickly access your important information and view upcoming reminders in the "Awaiting Your Action" and "Timely Suggestions" sections, and the "Team Highlights" section for managers.
  • Workday search functionality allows you to easily sort search results by topic.
  • The WalkMe* ActionBot and orange Need Help? icon make it easier to get help with Workday business processes.

University Banner Images

You'll notice University of Miami campus images as a banner on top of the Workday home page. These University campus images are updated according to the time of day, so depending on the time of day you log in to Workday, you'll see a different image.


Awaiting Your Action

Up to three of your most recent My Tasks items appear, which you can also access from the My Tasks icon.


Timely Suggestions

Highlights reminders, such as upcoming time off, and quick access to your important information, such as home and work contact information. Managers also see upcoming birthdays and work anniversaries for their direct reports.


Announcements

Select an announcement to see all details. If more than one is available, use the arrow icons to scroll to the next announcement.


Apps

Formerly known as worklets, apps (e.g., Pay and Benefits Hub, My Team) are accessible under "View All Apps" and the Global Navigation Menu.


Global Navigation Menu

With the Global Navigation Menu, you can access your apps and shortcuts from anywhere in Workday, not just your home page. Easily customize the apps you see and their order. The top app in each of your first four categories displays in the “Your Top Apps” section. You can also create up to 10 shortcuts for tasks and reports for easy access.


Search Functionality

Allows you to personalize search results. Use Saved Categories to choose the order in which Workday searches through categories and displays the results. In addition, when searching in Workday, you'll see different categories to filter searches. To search all categories at once, i.e., All of Workday, add them to your Saved Categories list.

These smart tools make it easier to get help with Workday business processes.

*Note: If you don't see these smart tools on your Workday home page, please install the WalkMe plugin on your computer.


My Tasks

Formerly known as your Workday Inbox, My Tasks allows you to filter, organize, and manage tasks in one location. Up to three of your most recent My Tasks items will also appear in the "Awaiting Your Action" section.


Team Highlights*

Quickly access your Team Org Chart and direct reports' Workday profiles, and identify any Goals that are overdue or off track.

What's New?

As of March 15, 2025, some features within Workday have changed:

  • The Global Navigation Menu now groups apps into categories by function. App icons are no longer displayed. Note: You are able to arrange the order of apps within a group, but the order of categories cannot be changed. Explore your new experience.
  • People View provides a simplified view of organizational (org) charts that show direct manager relationships, and can be accessed via an employee’s profile and the Manager Insights Hub. Org charts can be exported in PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel formats.

Please keep in mind that Workday tasks and business processes are not affected by these changes, and will remain the same.

  • Why are we making this change?

    • Workday makes regular enhancements to improve your experience; to that end, these changes are required by Workday.

  • What are the benefits of these new features?

    • Grouping apps by function within Global Navigation Menu creates a more logical and structure, making it easier to for you to find the tools you need. Removing app icons provides a cleaner, less cluttered user interface.
    • The redesigned People View for organizational (org) charts provides a significantly clearer and more accurate representation of the organization’s reporting hierarchy. The ability to export org charts in PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel formats enable you to easily share and customize team structures—eliminating the need to recreate org charts manually.

  • What is changing?

    • The Global Navigation Menu now groups apps into categories by function. App icons are no longer displayed. Note: You are able to arrange the order of apps within a group, but the order of categories cannot be changed.
    • People View provides a simplified view of organizational (org) charts that show direct manager relationships, and can be accessed via an employee’s profile and the Manager Insights Hub. Org charts can be exported in PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel formats. Note: The Org View can still be accessed by entering “org chart” in the Workday Search field.

  • What is not changing?

    The following features of your Workday experience are not changing:

    • Apps, formerly known as worklets, are minimized under "View All Apps" and can be accessed from anywhere within Workday via the Global Navigation Menu.
    • You can quickly access your important information and view upcoming reminders in the "Awaiting Your Action" and "Timely Suggestions" sections.
    • Managers can quickly access their direct reports’ Workday profiles and Team Org Chart, and identify any Goals that are overdue or off track in the "Team Highlights" section or the Manager Insights Hub.
    • Workday search functionality allows you to easily sort search results by topic. Tip: To search all Workday categories at once, add all categories to your Saved Categories list.
    • The WalkMe* ActionBot and orange Need Help? icon make it easier to get help with Workday business processes.


    Please keep in mind that Workday tasks and business processes are not affected by this update, and will remain the same.
